Description olaf 2003-11-12 12:20:24 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you
are doing.
Description of Problem:
Cannot drag and drop multiple attachments from evolution to eg. desktop or
nautilus window

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open a message with several attachments and try to drag eg. 3 from them
2.
3.

Actual Results:
It is not possible to d'n'd multiple attachments

Expected Results:
To be able to d'n'd multiple attachments

How often does this happen?
Always

Additional Information:
The attachments pane could be made like in Outlook. I can understand that
many persons don't like Outlook and MS, but it shouldn't prevent us from
getting good ideas from it.
Comment 1 Jeffrey Stedfast 2003-11-12 15:06:13 UTC
are you talking about the composer? or the message preview pane?
Comment 2 olaf 2003-11-12 16:03:44 UTC
I talk about received messages.
This is not working in preview pane.
This is also not working when double-click on message and open it in
separate window.

If I open a message in separate window (using double-click) I would
like to be able to select several attachments and drag them to some
folder (at one time - not one-by-one). Also d'n'd to another (newly
composed) message would be nice.

For eg. 15 attachments, in Outlook I do it with 2 mouse-clicks, in
Evolution I need to make tens of clicks.

Comment 3 Jeffrey Stedfast 2004-04-14 22:46:33 UTC
this is gonna be impossible to do since gtk won't let you drag
multiple widgets
Comment 4 olaf 2004-04-15 10:25:14 UTC
Why it should be impossible?
You can drag multiple messages between folders in Evolution.
You can drag multiple files in nautilus
Many thousands of other examples.
Why should it be impossible to drag many attachments?
Maybe a differen view would be needed (eg. like icon view in nautilus).
Comment 5 climent 2005-04-12 09:10:35 UTC
This might be related to the way the attachments are presented in the evolution
mailer. From nautilus one can select several objects and drag'n'drop them into
evolution, so why not the other way around?
Comment 6 olaf 2005-04-12 15:03:51 UTC
This is not a technical problem. It looks like that they simply don't care and
are not willing to implement it.
Comment 7 Jeffrey Stedfast 2005-04-12 18:44:21 UTC
in the evolution view, each attachment button is a separate widget which cannot
be multiply selected. until that can happen, we cannot do multi-drag&drop
Comment 8 olaf 2005-04-13 09:28:37 UTC
It is well known to me. But I don't suppose that gtk will support it in near
future if ever. The solution to this ugly problem is to change not gtk but the
evolution. Why not to have attachments organised like in Outlook or like files
in nautilus icon view?
Comment 9 Sankar P 2005-09-08 07:44:25 UTC
On Evolution-2.4, there is a facility to save all attachments by a single click.
