Description Julien Olivier 2003-10-17 11:36:29 UTC
I think that there should be an option to have
Evolution use the notification area to notify of
new messages. Currently, you can only play a beep
or an audio file.

this is a bad idea because nothing stays in the status bar for very
long, so it wouldn't work well. plus the status bar is being removed
in 2.0
Comment 2 Julien Olivier 2003-10-17 23:43:25 UTC
I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't talking about the status bar at
all. I was talking about the notification area. This is an applet
living in both KDE and GNOME's panels and used to notify users about
events happening in apps. More over, it's cross-platform and lots of
apps already us (abuse) it.

ah, sorry. yes, we want this - and in fact is already filed and marked
with a Milestone of 2.0
