Description aaron 2002-10-10 16:17:31 UTC
Create a few contacts that you want to delete, and scatter them in amongst
contacts you want to keep. View as phonelist, sort by the first column
("File As), and select one in the middle to delete.

Delete it.

You have deleted the only selected item, so the selection should either
move one up or one down in the list, or just revert to no-selection.

However, it moves to a seemingly arbitrary other point-- perhaps to the
next or previous item in some internal sort mechanism that is not clear to me.

Any chance to test this against 1.5?
Comment 2 aaron 2004-03-03 19:23:22 UTC
This works fine 90% of the time, but it still jumps occasionally. Not
important which column you sort by.

Comment 4 Gerardo Marin 2004-04-15 04:35:07 UTC
Still an issue in 1.5.6
Comment 5 JP Rosevear 2004-07-16 17:30:52 UTC
Not a regression
Comment 6 André Klapper 2004-12-09 13:50:54 UTC
can still reproduce this with
evolution-2.0.2.0.200412060900-0.snap.ximian.10.1.
Comment 7 André Klapper 2005-03-23 16:33:20 UTC
still valid in evolution-2.2.0.0.200503210410-0.snap.ximian.10.1,
retargetting to 2.5 - it's not a regression and i don't think that
this is important to have fixed in 2.3.
Comment 8 Srinivasa Ragavan 2005-08-24 06:30:55 UTC
I tried it, When u delete a entry it moved to next one. If it is the last it
selected the previous one. I guess this is right. But im not able to see any
other behaviour

I just tried this in 2.5.2 and it is still is a problem. Sorted by File As,
delete an entry and the selection goes to some seemingly arbitrary point in the
contact list. Srinivasa, what version were you using? have you tried it in
2.5.2? Thx
Comment 11 Srinivasa Ragavan 2005-11-21 03:47:24 UTC
John, i tried in head build. May be im not following a series of steps. If you
could give me the steps, sure i can help.
Comment 12 André Klapper 2005-11-24 23:38:00 UTC
srini, this is definitely still valid in address crad view in 2.5.2, i'm also

In the patch the selection is moved to the first contact after the deletion of a contact in phone-list view.

I think, moving the selection to the first contact as a consistent behaviour is a good solution to the problem.
