Description David Hoover 2002-03-19 23:17:15 UTC
There's one feature in Eudora for filters that I'd like to see in
Evolution; there you can mark a filter to run automatically when new mail
arrives, or only run when you manually run filters.

That's pretty handy since there are some filters I have that I would like
to always do (i.e. trap mail on mailing lists and shovel it out to the
appropriate mail boxes), but then I have some I'd like to do less
frequently (i.e. 'okay, my inbox is getting pretty full... time to throw
everything from Joe into 'People/Joe' and everything from Bob into
'People/Bob')

we used to have this. i dont know why it got removed.

all the code is still there to support it, something just needs to run
the filter with 'ondemand' as the type, etc.

One could also set up their filter to only apply to read mail. This
would have the same effect as all new messages are also unread.

Tools -> Filters
Add

Make certain "if all criteria are met" is selected. Then make certain
the rule "Status - is - Read" exists. Then put in your other criteria
and what to do with the message. Should work until the code is changed.

User can filter on demand by Ctrl + Y or Menu > Message > Apply filter

field? Thanks a lot.

Again thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed
for the version you originally used here.
