GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 222031
Constantly get error dialog indicating that there was an error fetching mail.
Last modified: 2005-03-23 17:05:33 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Wishlist Version: 1.0.2 Synopsis: Constantly get error dialog indicating that there was an error fetching mail. Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Description: This is more of an enhancement than a bug. While it is helpful to see error dialogs at times, it would be very useful to provide an option to not show this particular error dialog any more. I leave my mail reader up 24x7 and really don't care if sometime in the wee hours there was a problem retrieving my email once. I would rather have the dialog not show and Evolution continue to try to retrieve my email at the next scheduled time. Perhaps a log somewhere or a statistics dialog showing how many failures in the last week/month/etc. would be more helpful. Thanks. Eudora uses a task list and log. Never requests user action. Any other mailers you remember?
we do this already
Description of Problem: When a pop-server (in my case) cannot be reached a error message pops up saying: "Error while fetching mail': could not connect to POP server... This is a good thing. However when the same message pops up every 3 minutes (checking interval) I am starting to miss a "OK & hide" option, so that for the remaining time that I leave the evolution display open it will not come back. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Create a non functional email account. 2. Set accout to retrieve mail every x minutes. 3. Leave the evolution program opened. Actual Results: Error message pops up every x minutes. Expected Results: I would like to see a "Ok and hide option". Please forgive my ignorance as I do not see how this has been resolved since the original bugreport. I have only a "close" button in the error message. I am running evolution 1.4.5
This is one of the most aggravating things about Evolution to me right now, since my laptop is constantly switching networks, etc. I think the priority of this bug should be increased.
marking as a dup of bug 247373 since that one has more discussion on it. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 247373 ***
