Description bbigby 2002-01-06 02:52:58 UTC
Package: Evolution
Priority: Major
Version: 1.0
Synopsis: Evolution 1.0 gets stuck trying to exit
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Shell

Description:
Sometimes, when I exit Evolution 1.0, Evolution does not successfully
fully exit. It repeats the following message indefinitely:

################################

Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (1)
Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (2)
Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (3)

...
Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (n)

...

################################

It never exits. I'm running RedHat 7.1 on Dual Pentium 200 w/224 MB of
RAM, Ximian GNOME 1.4 latest.

The problem seems to occur when I exit after deleting and expunging
messages. If I simply entered Evolution and didn't expunge any messages
and then exited, Evolution would not hang.

The weird thing is that after 4 or 5 attempts, Evolution successfully
exited after I expunged the messages that I wanted to discard.

any idea?
Comment 2 Gustavo Giráldez 2002-04-25 07:30:28 UTC
I have the same problem. It's totally random for me. I'm using IMAP
from a debian server (courier). RPM version is evolution-1.0.3-ximian.4,
but I've had this behavior in the previous versions too (don't
remember exactly, but even pre 1.0)

I'll attach all the information I could collect.

Comment 4 Ettore Perazzoli 2002-05-23 14:47:21 UTC
This is the mail component not exiting properly.
Comment 5 Jeremy Nickurak 2002-06-06 20:22:09 UTC
Same problem here. Evolution 1.0.5 on debian sid, UW IMAP v4.7c from
debian woody's "imap" package. No SSL.
