Still not in Evolution 2.20. I wanted to post the same wish. It would be very useful to have an alarm for tasks, too!
Yet another request for this feature. I have far more tasks than appointments that I need reminders. It's amazing this feature hasn't made it into the product yet. This is probably my biggest gripe about evolution. I've used a bunch of different calendar programs, and this is one of the few that doesn't allow a reminder on task events.
*bump* Another request for this feature. The task feature itself isn't complete, IMO, unless you can be reminded of the task. That's just logical... It would also be helpful to have the task (optionally) displayed on the calendar. Personally, I hide the task/memo bar on my X61 Thinkpad to free up some screen real estate (plus I don't use either since I can't be reminded). Best, - j
I would also like to see this feature! Yours appreciative, Jamie
+1 here too, since voting seems to be done by comment...
+1. This would be very useful.

Note that 578913 is not really a duplicate of this: Bug 216130 talks about general alarm support, while my bug requests to implement the feature in the Exchange backend. I assume 578913 could be re-opened and marked as dependent on this bug here?
I assumed there was a bug because alarms did not show for outstanding tasks. Now I realise it is a missing feature. Without this feature tasks are practically useless.
I agree with Peter. Tasks must have an alarms! Another vote for this one. Can't be too complicated to implement.
I vote for this feature as well. I have to use another task managing application (Task Coach) because without reminders, tasks are nearly useless to me.
I vote for this feature as well.
This much needed feature was first reported in 2001. So adding a task reminder might help the developers remember it's already been a decade now. This feature is critical for users who depend on time management solutions. Obviously, there are other applications that offer ways to manage tasks, but Evolution enables an easy, offline way to manage tasks, while giving unique features, such as differential time zone, attachments, import/export, and transfer to calendar.
Another vote for this feature! This really is a pretty big flaw in Evolution. For me at least this is more important than reminders for appointments, which tend to be bigger things that are a little harder to forget, it's the little things like minor chores that are so easy to forget. And it has to be said again, it has been a decade!
As a professional who's surprised this feature has not been added yet, count this as another vote!
Do tasks in EWS that have reminders set on them trigger the evolution notifier?

I added the ability to set reminders to the task editor. Please note that the start date or the due date should be filled, thus the reminder's relative point is computed correctly. (Side notice, do not be confused with the commit size, this wouldn't be possible without the previous commit, which is rather huge.) Create commit 60fe3e9 in evo master (3.19.2+)
How do we use it? I am using EWS and I don't see an option for reminders like I do with appointments. I am using Evolution 3.18.5.2.
(In reply to Raffi Khatchadourian from comment #22) > I am using EWS and I don't see an option for reminders like I do with > appointments. To be honest, I'm not sure whether EWS supports it, though it should. Nonetheless: > I am using Evolution 3.18.5.2. Not a surprise, as comment #21 says 3.19.2+, while you are below that version.

Oh, I didn't catch that. This is the version I have on Ubuntu (3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.1). If I try to upgrade, I get: "evolution is already the newest version (3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.1)." Is there a way I can upgrade to 3.19.2+ on Ubuntu?
(In reply to Raffi Khatchadourian from comment #24) > Is there a way I can upgrade to 3.19.2+ on Ubuntu? Maybe. I do not use Ubuntu. As it sounds like a very common question, try some web search engine and it'll give you answers. This is out of scope of this bug report anyway.
