GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 208030
Contact editor in Spanish does not fit into a normal 800x600 screen
Last modified: 2005-02-28 23:02:24 UTC
Description of Problem:Some dialogs in evolution do not fit into a normal 800x600 desktop (with normal gnome 1.4 instalation, normal fonts, and spanish locale) Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Set your resolution to 800 600 2. Open contact editor This is very annoying. I'm not sure if there is a "minimal" resolution for exceuting evolution, but 800x600 if very common in old computers and laptops. I'm not sure if this is the only dialog with this problem, but maybe evolution and all gnome need some "Fit in the screen" auditing. (And maybe some automatic system for gnome 2.2)
The contact editor is 648x415 or so for me. What font and locale are you using?
Hum, I'm using now a 21" monitor, so never 800x600 resolution. I was using spanish locale and default fonts. I'll try again with that resolution to confirm you that it's fixed or not.
Tested on 800x600. It doesn't fit!. I attach a screenshot. Red Hat 7.2 stock + gnome2 snapshots. Default font and spanish locale.

Hmm it looks like it's the translation's fault; it should maybe try using shorter words or abbreviations...
still doesn't fit to a width of 800pixels in spanish using evolution-1.4.4-86.
