Description bugzilla.gnome 2005-03-01 14:43:02 UTC
Distribution/Version: XP SP2

The windows version of GIMP 2.2.3 takes too long to start up. On my computer, I
measured about 5:30 minutes, whereas GIMP 1.2 for windows starts up in less than
five seconds.

This seems to be related to the reading of font information at startup (I do
have a reasonably large number of fonts installed, too), but it's highly
annoying and makes GIMP unusable for quick jobs.

This is a FAQ. Remove the (broken) .fonts.cache-1 file from your home directory.
