Description David Favro 2005-01-17 14:00:11 UTC
I am running the Gnome 2.8.0 that was distributed with my Fedora Core 3 Linux,
using the Xorg X-server with a multiple-display desktop: a two-head NVidia
(GeForce4 MX 440) video card, nvidia´s custom driver. It is configured using
NVidia´s ¨TwinView¨ option: two monitors, each is 1280x1024, head #1 to the left
of head #0, overall display resolution 2560x1024. Gnome seems to notice that
the desktop is split across multiple monitors -- displaying two separate panels
on the left and right monitors, for example. The problem: a drawer on the
right-hand monitor´s panel opens correctly; but a drawer on the left-hand
monitor´s panel (head #1) does not open above itself, but rather just above the
other panel at the lower-left-hand corner of the right-hand monitor (head #0).

A portion of the output of xdpyinfo:

screen #0:
  dimensions:    2560x1024 pixels (320x241 millimeters)

XINERAMA version 1.1 opcode: 155
  head #0: 1280x1024 @ 1280,0
  head #1: 1280x1024 @ 0,0
