GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 164067
Font init is very slow in GIMP 2.2 for windows
Last modified: 2008-01-15 12:45:25 UTC
Start GIMP 2.2.x in windows (tried 2.2 & 2.2.1) When gimp startup splash reports "Lookin for data files: Fonts" the progress is halted, CPU runs hot (laptop) and HD crunches. "Fonts" part takes more than a minute. In 2.0 this part was much faster (about x10) in same computer. GIMP & GTK installed from "automated installer"
Delete the file .fonts.cache-1 in your homedir. GIMP will then recreate the font cache on next startup.
Resolving as a duplicate of bug #154968. We should probably try to figure out why the original .font.cache-1 is not being correctly generated (or whether it is the GIMP which is generating an incorrect font cache). Dave.
