Description Thorsten Claus 2005-01-13 07:18:06 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
Just installed the latest Gimp 2.2.1, and GTK for windows.
GIMP starts well, 'first Tip' appears. Just File-open crashes.
German system, WinXp Prof, No Antivirus, but installed VS2005 Beta and .NEt 2.0
beta. It works on my Laptop with nearly the same configuration

Comment 2 Sven Neumann 2005-01-13 09:23:08 UTC
In order to decide whether this is a duplicate of bug #161797 or not, we need
more information. Please tell us if the directory you are trying to visit with
the file chooser dialog is located on a server.
Comment 3 Thorsten Claus 2005-01-13 09:29:17 UTC
The file-Dialog never appears, so I can't choose any file. The stop occurs just
after clicking on the File->Open Menu.
Comment 4 Sven Neumann 2005-01-13 13:11:16 UTC
Well, where's the directory located then that GIMP starts from? That would be
the initial directory the file-chooser tries to access.
Comment 5 Thorsten Claus 2005-01-13 14:46:26 UTC
startpath ist
C:\Programme\GIMP-2.2\bin\gimp-2.2.exe;
but my "eigene dateien" ("My Folders" in english?) is located on an Network
Drive (by UNC). Maybe that's the Network connection which makes the errors.

Comment 6 Michael Schumacher 2005-01-13 15:17:30 UTC
The installer sets the startup folder to My Pictures (== "Eigene Bilder"?),
which is inside My Documents (== "Eigene Dateien"). So this is a duplicate of
bug 161797.
