I am on version 2.2.1 on a Windows binary.  To reproduce this bug, just randomly
find some PNGs that can't be opened or previewed in GIMP.  You will get the
following two part error message:

** WARNING (recursed) **: Could't load font "Lucida Grande 8" falling back to
"Sans 8" aborting...   %must hit OK at this point%

^title of part two is 'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library'^

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin\gimp-2.2.exe


This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unsual way. 
Please contact the application's support team for more information.  %must hit
ok; messages end, GIMP closes, png.exe and script_fu.exe are still running as a
process%


I am unaware of 2.2.2 can fix this, for I was unable to grab a binary for that
from the Windows Gimp website.  If you need a specific picture that I had issues
with, I can send one over; just email me for a request.  (it's
wolfman.ncsu2000@gmail.com BTW)  Oh yeah; I'm guessing the Component as General
here.

GIMP 2.2.2 won't fix this since it is not a GIMP problem. See bug #140290, bug
#163740, bug #112401 and probably a dozen other bug reports. Most likely the
problem needs to be fixed in Pango which would this report a duplicate of bug
#112401 then.
