GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 163880
Importing hangs on certain cover art jpeg's
Last modified: 2005-01-13 15:49:33 UTC
Please describe the problem: When importing a folder that includes the following file (full path shown for completeness) /mnt/data/tmp/AlbumArt_{1709224D-D9E2-423F-A70E-305FFC69AF49}_Small.jpg Rhythmbox hangs, with the loading songs bar moving, but nothing being added to the library, and upon checking the open files (importing over a smb mounted share, using smbstatus on the server) the above file was identified as being opened. Rhythmbox still us usable to play music that is aready in the library but the loading songs still continues to run down the bottom. Occasionally it will appear to have sucessfully imported the folder, but smbstatus still reports that the file (jpg) is opened. Attempting then to quit will lockup the program, requiring a forcable quit. (Control-C on the command line in my case). Attempting to start rhythbox again may result in a Segmentation Fault. Attemping to start it again immediatley after this will work. Steps to reproduce: 1. I placed the above file in a new directory with a few mp3's. 2. I told Rhythmbox to import the new directory. 3. After a few seconds, I go Music -> Quit Actual results: Rhythmbox locks up or fails to import as described above Expected results: Hopefully what I described above. I tried my best to isolate and reproduce the problem, it seems to always happen. Does this happen every time? As far as I know, yes. Other information: While I have not tested it yet, I believe that I was getting similar problems on another computer, importing over an NFS share, thus ruling out the SMB mounted filesystem.
