GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 163662
RFE: Need option to span CDs
Last modified: 2005-01-18 14:42:06 UTC
Imported from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=129410 Description of problem: The nautilus-cd-burner utility is very easy to use - as long as you don't try and copy >700 megs onto a CD. It would be nice if the app: 1. Checked the total size of files on the CD before creating an image 2. Warned the user if the size was too big, and offered an option to span multiple CDs.
No dupes found, marking new.
1) Is already done. The 2.10 nautilus-cd-burner will warn when there isn't enough room on the CD. 2) Is not really possible to do. How do you determine what will be split, and using which method? It wouldn't be possible to guess programmatically so is best left of to the user. As the user will be warned that there's not enough room on the CD beforehand, it should be quicker to manually remove files.
Maybe this could be done in cooperation with file-roller. See my comments on bug 122886
David, what you want looks like a backup tool, and I don't think we should add this on top of nautilus-cd-burner. It's obviously possible for other applications to use libnautilus-burn to burn the resulting backup data.
