Description Ondøej Svìtlík 2005-01-04 10:05:16 UTC
Try to assign <Control><Alt>s for example to stop playback. S key stops working
at all, removing the binding doesn't fix it. I had to call xmodmap -e 'keycode
39 = s S s S' to make it work again. This problem may belong to some other
component, but I have no better idea than metacity.
Comment 1 Subodh Soni 2005-01-04 10:24:54 UTC
This problem is also present on the latest metacity built from CVS HEAD (version
2.9.1). But again even I am not sure if this is really a metacity problem or it
should be moved to the control-center product under keybindings component.
Comment 2 Elijah Newren 2005-01-05 19:12:55 UTC
I can duplicate. However, note that the stop playback key is under control of
gnome_settings_daemon, not metacity. If one tries to switch a keybinding like
the one for show desktop ("Hide all windows and focus desktop"), then no such
problem occurs. So this isn't a metacity issue; I'll reassign to control center.

Losing the ability to use a normal key is a pretty bad problem (I wouldn't have
known how to fix it myself, so I'm glad Ondøej provided that step for me), so
I'm marking priority up.

(Also, note that version 2.9.1 isn't the latest metacity...)

that's a dup of #133815
