Description Karel Demeyer 2004-12-26 20:04:09 UTC
Under the menu Actions > Recent Documents, there is an option to remove the
recent documents history. Would it be better tyo hathere the option "edit"
instead of delete, which opens a nautilus windows with the links to the recent
documents in it ? They should be sorted by date default. This way you can drag
some links to the trash to remove 'm. All this makes it more powerfull and it
fits much betterinto gnome, I think.

I think the user should be able to remove some documents and not all (for this,
we should create a context menu). But why would this be useful to see this in
nautilus?
Comment 2 Karel Demeyer 2005-01-01 15:38:43 UTC
for consistency, I guess. It would be the easiest to do it by drag 'n drop, no
? Just open a window in nautilus with the shortcuts so you can drag 'm to the
trash to delete or press del or right-click and delete, just like you do it with
other things right now in gnome.

from the tradition idea of 'everything as a file', it is nice to be able to use existing file management tools to manage what appears to be a list of files.

I kind of like this idea but maybe I'm just used to Windows (where you can right click on the start button, Explore, and then clear out the recent documents list using the file manager)

Looking at this slightly differently a Delete item requires confirmation (or you easily risk accidentally clearing the list) so if you must pop something it might as well be a tool or dialog which allows to you edit/manage the history.

confirming based on the fact that you agree with the underlying task the user is trying to perform even if you the best implementation is unclear

Any news on this ?
Comment 5 Marcus Carlson 2009-08-16 14:48:25 UTC
Karel, well yes, some news is that I've been working on a patch to create a context menu, see [1]. In this menu we should be able to add options such as "Remove from List" and "Delete File" - it we want.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
