GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 156891
Loading hangs on m3u with http:// targets
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
1. "Import Folder", choose folder containing offending .m3u file 2. Loading hangs, with progress bar remaining in motion - Rhythmbox continues to play, but attempts to add further files fail silently - When one attempts to quit rhythmbox, it freezes entirely (no gtk redraw) Rhythmbox is fine when it next starts (playlist hasn't been saved on freezing quit).

I vote for this. This happens when I first import my music into rhythmbox. Music db ceases to grow and cpu usage grows high. Upon loading an offending file, rhythmbox should also have a time limit and drop it.
It also happens with images. According to the file command: Cardigans/[Cardigans] First Band On The Moon/AlbumArtSmall.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01

Hmm, I guess all of this is a duplicate of bug #158018, this will be fixed when the gstreamer guys make a new release. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 158018 ***
It even happens with some mp3: $file Queen/ALBUMS/Made In Heaven $ file Untitled\ Yeah.mp3 Untitled Yeah.mp3: MP3, 128 kBits, 44.1 kHz, JStereo
Re comment 5 : that's right, thanks!
