maybe the user close a message tab/window in the moment when he/she receive a
new message from this user. then gossip leave this message as new in an
specified time (IMHO 0.5sec) and the new message icon should blink.

This is not an issue with the current implementation of Gossip, if you close the window/tab, then you can reopen it and the message will be there.  If you try to quite with unread messages it will also prompt you about it.
