GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 152590
Nautilus cannot list shares on win2k server unless password is blank
Last modified: 2005-02-11 22:33:07 UTC
Both Nautilus 2.6 and 2.7 fail to list the available samba shares hosted on a Win2000 machine unless there's an account on that machine with the current GNOME user's name and a blank password. Otherwise, it automatically pops up a permission error dialog without asking for a username or password. However, manually entering in the path of an individual share's name still pops up the user/password entry dialog and subsequently works fine. The command-line smbclient works as well, when a password is supplied with the -L parameter.
this should fixed with GNOME 2.8 or the current CVS, do you still have the issue with a new version ?
It still happens with Gnome 2.8. I don't have a working build tree at the moment, I'll download a gnome 2.10 beta LiveCD a little later and try it with that.
in fact that's probably a duplicate of #167020, should be fixed for GNOME 2.10
