GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 150770
Please add UI option to change display font (on Windows 9x/ME)
Last modified: 2005-07-02 00:54:51 UTC
Background: When running Dia on Windows ME the dug window (almost) constantly emits messages like ** (dia.exe:4293945899): WARNING **: Couldn't load font "MS Sans Serif 8" falling back to "Sans 8" According to the fix a similar Ethereal problem (http://www.ethereal.com/lists/ethereal-dev/200406/msg00475.html) and a simlar GIMP problem (http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/faq.html, Question 4) this could be avoided by chossing a real TT font (i.e. Tahoma, since Sans Serif is NOT a TT font on Windows ME). However, the DIA UI doesn't seem to provide a possibility to change the font. Would it be possible to add a choice to change the font setting ?! Thank you!
The UI is your system settings (Pango does not support bitmap fonts yet, which are dragged in by gtk-winp) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 112401 ***
Thanks for your fast reaction! However, it took me some time to figure out, what is meant by "The UI is your system settings...." To those who are as slow to understand as me - what Hans Breuer would like to say seems to be the following: If would like to change the menu away from the "Sans Serif" font you'd have to do so by right-clicking on the window background, choosing "Properties", then the middle tab called something like "Presentation" (i.e. "Darstellung" in German Windows ME) and then setting the font for the Menu Group header and the Active Windows to something like "Tahoma". However, be sure to backup your current settings using "Save as" before changing anything... since you might want to return to your previous settings!
My computer won't let me click on the Font button so that I can change the font. What should I do? P.S. I'm sorry for being so slow.
