Created attachment 29090 [details] updated version of swirl tile
changed the name to be completely different from the other "Swirl" moved from toolbox to current image, (see also bug 145145) fixed some bugs involving bad input
OK, so what does this change do? As far as I understand it, it moves the script from the Xtns menu to the Image menu. At the same time the name is changed. This seems to be a perfect way to confuse our users. Are there any other benefits from applying this change?
The name change was because there were two pattern scripts with "swirl" in their name which kept confusing me. If you can suggest clearer less ambiguous names I'll make changes, as I will probably need to make other minor changes anyway. It is more flexible to create a new image using the new image dialog (because it has constraints and template image sizes) or to use an existing image and then to apply a script to it than it is set the sizes you want in a script-fu dialog. If you run this on a blank white image it will look pretty much the the same as the old version. If you run this on a photo of something (an existing image) it will distort the photo, which is the major difference.
IMO the menu locations of all scripts need to be changed and it doesn't make sense to do only one or two scripts for 2.2. I suggest that this bug as well as bug #145145 is moved from the 2.2 milestone.
Let's look into this again when we have branched after 2.2.
Having the script work on the current image should be in addition to its current behaviour rather than just moving it to the image menu only.

I have now created a separate bug report for this, "Bug 588755 – Port pattern generation scripts to work on the current image". Closing this as INVALID in lack of better resolutions.
