Description befrok 2004-06-05 22:07:00 UTC
Description of Problem:
- if "seperate group for each item" is checked,
clicking on the applet in the panel ("tray?")
makes the layout switch BUT it reverts to its
previous value as soon as you click in a window
- if it is not checked, clicking on the applet
won't make the layout switch)

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. check the "seperate group for each item"
checkbox under properties
2. start gedit or anything else
3. click on the applet. The keymap name it shows
will change
4. click in gedit, the applet will switch back to
the previous layout.

1. uncheck the "seperate group for each item"
checkbox under properties
2. start gedit or anything else
3. click on the applet. The keymap name it shows
will change (this time it works)
4. click in gedit, write something (this time the
layout switching really worked).
5. click once more on the applet, it doesn't allow
the layout to be changed anymore

What is the version of gnome-applets? For FC2, just do "rpm -q gnome-applets"
Comment 2 befrok 2004-06-06 09:37:18 UTC
gnome-applets-2.6.0-5
Comment 3 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-06-06 11:54:23 UTC
Could you please try version 2.6.1? Some things were fixed there...
Comment 4 Fredrik Engström 2004-06-07 11:45:45 UTC
The same happens for me. I'm using
gnome-applets/unstable uptodate 2.6.1-6
with debian unstable.

I'm using a british and a swedish layout. The british is the default one. When I
type anything with the swedish layout i can't left-click the icon to change to
british. If i don't type anything while in the swedish layout i can still switch
back to the british one.
It always work when switching from british to swedish. (This only happens when
the "Separate group for each window" is selected).

Using the rightclick menu also seems to work al the time.

Also, where do you specify the keyboard shortcut for switching layouts?
Comment 5 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-06-07 12:44:19 UTC
Frederik: do you use flags or just labels in the indicator?
Comment 6 Fredrik Engström 2004-06-07 12:52:19 UTC
Only labels.

How to you configure it to use flags as well?
Comment 7 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-06-07 13:48:29 UTC
In order to use flags - take the latest gswitchit-plugins (0.3)
Comment 8 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-06-07 14:02:34 UTC
> where do you specify the keyboard shortcut for switching layouts?

gnome-keyboard-properties, "Layout Options", section "Group Shift/Lock behaviour"
Comment 9 Fredrik Engström 2004-06-07 14:45:34 UTC
Thanks. The keyboard switching works prefectly, but the mouse left clicking on
the icon still doesn't work...
Comment 10 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-06-07 18:16:35 UTC
To say the truth, the problem with non-working flags is long-outstanding - and I
don't really know how to fix it (I just get no notifications on the mouse
click). Any ideas are welcome. But labels should work fine - so I'll try to play
around..
Comment 11 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-06-08 01:30:11 UTC
If you take the latest libxklavier from CVS and gnome-applets from CVS (even the
branch gnome-2-6 will do) - this problem should be fixed. I'd appreciate some
testing lads...
Comment 12 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-06-08 10:58:56 UTC
Just be careful - take branch v_1_0 of libxklavier. Did not put fixed to the
HEAD yet
Comment 13 Sergey V. Udaltsov 2004-10-19 21:14:22 UTC
Any news? Can I close this one?

No news. Works for me. Bye :)
