GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 143603
Add additional EXIF capabilities
Last modified: 2006-09-29 18:21:30 UTC
It would be very useful to me to have two additional EXIF-related features: 1) When importing from the camera, have an option to auto-rotate the image according to the embedded EXIF orientation data (for cameras that support this). Right now I have to manually execute jhead to do this. 2) Store comments in the "UserComment" EXIF field in addition to gThumb's database.
It's not quite as convenient as during import, but you can already auto-rotate the images (jhead-style) by using Tools / Rotate Images and checking the boxes for "Adjust photo orientation" and "Apply to all images". But yeah, it would be much more convenient to auto-rotate during the import itself. I strongly second your other suggestion... it would be very nice to be able to embed comments in the EXIF data. Comments aren't portable with other viewers right now - it would be nice to just upload my images to a web gallery and have it read the comments from the image, without having to re-enter them manually.
Sorry to spam the list, but I give a hearty *me too* to the second point about being able to store the database in the EXIF data. I don't want to enter my data separately for every program.
Change #2. I was looking at the wrong field. If this is implemented, it should be stored in the Comment or ImageDescription field (a lot of applications use ImageDescription, so that would make the most sense to me).
updating the version. BTW you should fill a bug for each issue, if you have 2 points in the same bug the comments/patches/keyword/... are not adapted
