GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 142080
Can't handle its own playlist?
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
When I start totem I always get the error Totem could not play 'file:///home/xxx/.gnome2/totem.pls'. There is no plugin to handle this movie. Huh? Looks like it tries to stream the playlist as a media file? When I open the playlist window I only have one item (totem.pls), no matter what I had there when I last closed the app. This happens with both backends.
Which version of Totem are you using? This was a known bug that has been fixed long ago.
0.99.13
Somehow I doubt that, 0.99.11 is the latest version I released...
Uh. Er. Oh. But I was so sure about that... Anyway, having actually checked the version now, I can confirm that it's indeed 0.99.11. Bummer. Sorry about that.
Could you attach the playlist to this bug? Could you give me the output of: gnomevfs-ls ~/.gnome2/ | grep pls
Created attachment 27584 [details] Faulty playlist This is the playlist. If I delete it, compile a new playlist, and quit totem it looks the same again. gnomevfs-ls yields only: totem.pls (Regular, text/plain) size 88 mode 0640
Hmm, this problem is normal, you'd need to remove the playlist, or the file from the playlist. This is probably a vertige from #129591.

Sorry about the last one... Anyway, I don't quite understand what you're saying. 1. I delete the totem.pls file. 2. I start totem. 3. I put some files in the playlist. 4. I quit totem. 5. I start totem -> error trying to play totem.pls This is normal? That means totem creates a bogus playlist on exit, doesn't it?
No, that means that you need a newer version of shared-mime-info installed onto your system, it's supposed to show up as: audio/x-scpls Yours shows: text/plain
That fixed it. Thanks.
