Description Sebastien Bacher 2004-04-25 14:49:59 UTC
"Nautilus 2.4 is losing my notes. I usually have the side pane open displaying
directory specific notes (e.g. my $HOME displays a todo). After a recent Debian
Sarge upgrade to nautilus 2.4 my notes are disappearing, and I can now
consistently reproduce the behaviour. To lose notes:
* Open a folder in nautilus (eg /home/dsolley for me), view side pane and select
view notes.
* Enter something in the notes side pane, eg GERONIMO
* `grep GERONIMO $HOME/.nautilus/metafiles/*` reveals a single XML file
containing the word GERONIMO.
* Now, to lose the note, simply enter the $HOME path with a trailing slash, eg:
  /home/dsolley
as compared to (note the trailing slash): /home/dsolley/
* Now, there are no notes displayed in the side pane, and `grep GERONIMO
$HOME/.nautilus/metafiles/*` returns zero results. The note has been lost."

This bug is still here with nautilus 2.6.1 in browser mode. BTW it seems to not
happen each time (but 2-3 retry on the url with a / is enough to delete the note
apparently).
Comment 1 Kjartan Maraas 2005-01-12 12:19:57 UTC
Do you still see this behaviour in 2.8.x/2.9.x?
Comment 2 Josselin Mouette 2005-01-12 13:05:03 UTC
I cannot reproduce it with nautilus 2.8.2-2.
Comment 3 Sebastien Bacher 2005-01-12 13:44:17 UTC
works fine with 2.9 too, bug closed.
