Description Christian Rose 2004-04-12 08:48:34 UTC
The file src/galeon-prefs-dialog.c in galeon contains a long list of language
names that are all marked for translation.

However, translating these language names over and over in different
applications is both a tedious, error-prone, and unnecessarily duplicated
process for translators. That's why there has been an effort to centralize all
these translations of all iso-639 language names into a single software module
that other applications can then depend upon, namely "iso_639"
http://people.debian.org/~mckinstry/iso-codes-0.019.tar.gz).

Please use the iso_639 module in Galeon instead of marking the languages for
translation in Galeon itself.

That should of course say "please use the iso-codes package" instead.

Epiphany has code to do this now, so we can probably just copy theirs.

I have added code to use the iso-codes package if it is available, the existing
languages will stay for the moment, as the iso-codes package isn't widespread
yet, so I don't want to have it as a real dependancy.
