Unbelieveble i can't scroll the list of fonts i cant !!! otherwise it crashes 
and closes gimp in less than a second, so very critical.

This happens in gimp pre 2 and gimp 2(stable) :what a pitty !

I hope u can fix this as soon as possible guys !

Sorry, we are too busy closing duplicate reports  :-)

(no really, the problem is not within the gimp code, it is in a library gimp uses,
hopefully this will be resolved soon)

how does this help us find an answer? this problem has existed for years, an d we are not all geeks==some of us just use and depend on the program. this crashing behavior while using fonts is a serious issue.

Whatever you are seeing, it is most likely not this bug - this one is a duplicate of something that was fixed ages ago. You should check among the more recent bug reports that are still open.

thanks but never mind. it's too much trouble to use Gimp now. I am far too busy to deal with all this searching for answers to the crashes. will be using Paint.net now. at least it works and doesn't crash on font and text.
