Description Mikhail Zabaluev 2004-03-10 21:45:06 UTC
Here is how I encountered the problem, once by now.
I returned to my desktop after being away for some time and noticed the
screensaver was running sluggish. top revealed the CPU hogs: gossip,
notification-area-applet, and the X server. After I quit Gossip (the
right-click menu on applet was sluggish too) and launched it again, CPU
usage got back to normal.

Which version of GNOME and Gossip? This sounds like an old bug in the
notification area or the panel, can't remember which.
Comment 2 Mikhail Zabaluev 2004-03-10 22:05:23 UTC
Gossip 0.7.2
GNOME Panel & Notification Applet 2.4.2
Comment 3 Mikhail Zabaluev 2004-03-10 22:17:22 UTC
Oh, looks like it's a duplicate of bug #122327 (yet the new stable
gtk+ is still not released).
I beg your pardon everyone.
