Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
font family combo box text content is not sent to screen reader. For Ex: sans. steps: a. start gnopernicus & wait till you hear the sound. & open character map application. b. Use Tab key for navigation. bring the focus on font family combo box. c. screen reader does not read the combo box text content. Expected: combo box text content should be read by the screen reader.
Transferring to gnopernicus for evaluation.

I'm not able to reproduce this bug on my computer (using gnopernicus from CVS HEAD Feb 23 and gnome-2.5 from Feb 02).If I bring the focus on Font Family combobox, gnopernicus will output : 'Font Family, Combo box, Sans'.Please let me know if this problem is still present.
I'm seeing this bug on my RedHat machine. There is a problem with 'Font family' combobox : it has only one child (with scroll-pane role). The text child is missing and the combobox doesn't have a text interface.
Dana, What application are you running? Is it gucharmap? Your comment makes it sound that the problem is with a GtkComboBox and is a bug in atk/gail but I would like to confirm that.
Yes, I am running gucharmap and the problem is with a GtkCombo. I will attach an at-poke screenshot which explore this combobox.
Created attachment 24794 [details] at-poke screenshot
Created attachment 24840 [details] at-poke screenshot in the correct behavior
Please ignore the first screenshot (id=24794). Maybe it isn't clear enough for this problem. I'll attach a new at-poke screenshot for the wrong behavior:
Created attachment 25080 [details] new at-poke screenshot for the wrong behavior
Both screenshots (24840 and 25080) belong to the same widget ('Font Family' combo box) in the same application (gucharmap), but in TWO distinct situations: I obtained the screenshot 24840 (right behavior) on my SuSE machine, using gail from CVS February 13th. In that situation, this combobox has a 'text' child and gnopernicus reads its content. Let's take a look now at screenshot 25080 (wrong behavior). I obtained it on my RedHat machine , where I'm not able to install gail from CVS. As you can see, this combo box doesn't have a 'text' child (or a text interface) and gnopernicus doesn't read its content. So the difference between the two screenshots/behaviors is: in the 'right behavior' Font family combo box has a text child and in the 'wrong behavior' it doesn't have. I have others examples (screenshots) with others combo box objects in others applications (obtained on my RedHat machine) and their content is reading by gnopernicus if they have a text child (interface). Should I attach others screenshots or the problem was understood ?
Dana: why can't you install from CVS onto your redhat machine? I would think this should be possible.
Gail depends on many others modules and I can't get through this phase: the gtk installation.
I think this was a gail issue which is solved now (I don't see this problem using gail from CVS Feb 13th or a later version). Chandrashekhar, please try to update your gail library and let me know if this problem is solved !
Chandrashekhar, what is your answer ? Is this problem solved or not??? We really need to know that !!!
Hi Dana Ormenisan , Thanks for the info. sorry for the delay in update. This has been resolved. Verified in gnome 2.5.9 dated 25/02/2004.
