GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 128771
Make note that currency accounts should not be used for money transactions
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:39:28 UTC
I tried to use a GnuCash "currency account" for a bank account in a foreign currency. Made sense to me, but I wasn't able to set the exchange rate, if I received money on that account and wanted to book it against my EUR-based income account (e.g. "salary"). The EUR account kept either a 0-value or the $-value in EUR (i.e. excahnge rate 1), and I didn't find a way to change it. warlord on IRC told me to use a "bank account", and now it works. This is not obvious and not documented, please do so.
Bug 128776 is an alternative to this bug.
SVN hides the currency account type for some time now, is this resolved? Same for bug 128776.
