Properties are deactivated for the open folder.

After opening a folder from the desktop, I tried to see it's properties
from the file menu, but it was grayed out.  The key command ctrl+i does not
work.

Have you tried selecting  any folder or file displayed in the spatial
window. Properties item in the File Menu gets enabled when you select
any folder or file in the spatial window and gives its properties.
This seems the right behaviour.

I don't want the properties of the sub folders, they work correctly. 
After opening and closing several folders, I was lost.  All I saw is
'gnome2' in the title bar, and I have several folders by that name. 
The problem is I want to get the properites of the folder I am
viewing.  The only way to do this is to open the parent foldler, then
select the the 'gnome2' child folder.  Both Windows and MacOS allow
the user to get the properties of the open folder; no navigation and
selection needed.

We really need to get this resolved since it's a major UI issue.
I can verify that this is really annoying and confusing.

The little parent folders widget in the lower-right corner of a spatial folder
isn't doing much. Let's use it to represent the current folder.
1. Stick a folder icon on it to make it look like a folder.
2. Right-clicking on it is like right-clicking on the actual folder icon.
3. Dragging it drags the folder.
