Description Jack Zagaja 2003-10-23 14:10:57 UTC
Here is step by step explanation how to make gimp the best tool for
serious photographer.

Make it 16 bit aware. I know gimp is going to have 16 bit support in
*near* ;-) future so there is no need to mention about it in this
thread.... well, having only 8 bits I can't make serious modifications
to my scans (for example loading RAW image file - in 16 tiff format).
Instead I have to rely on scanner software (or vuescan) to make the most
important color corrections (in 16 bit resolution) and eventually load
such partially corrected image into gimp to make only fine adjustments.
This process is not time effective and does not give the optimal results.

Gimp has much better *potential* than any other scanner software (I
have seen) and thanks to its speed, responsiveness and robustness could be
the perfect tool but.... ease take our suggestions into consideration.

Looks like a duplicate of bug 74224

Yes indeed. Please don't get this wrong; we don't close this report
because it would not be important, but it doesn't help anyone to have
duplicate reports.
