This is about the text tool in the 1.3 series.
I don't know if FreeType would allow this,
but some very nice feature from a Windows
application I used previously, was that you
could set different color and thickness for the
font outline, as opposed to the "fill".
There's a rather bad example at AbiWord bugzilla
(see the url field) that explains the idea.

That has of course been considered already and with the new stroke
functionality it's actually so simple that it might even make it's way
into 2.0 still.
