Description gnucash 2003-10-03 18:29:58 UTC
I wanted to shrink the Description column to widen the Tot Funds In/Out
columns. I grabbed the boundary between the "Description" header and the
account header and dragged it to the left (shrinking the Description
heading). When I released the mouse, the column boundary returned to its
original position (DENIED!).

On the IRC channel warlord informed me that I could widen the columns I
wanted to widen, resulting in the creation of a horizontal scrollbar to
accomodate the now oversized subwindow. Then I would be able to shrink the
description column. This is a poor workaround, especially if you've
already maximized the X window and you are trying to widen the rightmost
column. (go ahead and try it).

I believe that a less surprising behavior for shrinking a column (when the
columns all fit in the display) would be to widen the columns to the right
of the shrunken one, in proportion to their original size.
