Description Vincent Untz 2003-10-02 17:45:31 UTC
Suppose I type 232343. And then it comes to my mind it was stupid to type
this because I wanted to type 45436. My intuition tells me to hit 'escape'
to be able to type a new number (ok, that's a bad story, but it's just to
show the idea :-)).

Mmmmhhh. Not sure you'll understand what I mean. Well, just ask for more
precision if you don't undersand.

Heh. Well my first reaction was to close this
out as WONTFIX and point you at the Del and
Backspace keys, but then I decided to see what
the Microsoft calculator does. Sure enough, hitting
the Esc key is the same as hitting the Del key.

This would be a fairly trivial change and I'm
up for it, but I've added Calum to the CC: to
make sure he's okay with it from an HCI perspective.

Thanks for submitting this Vincent.

As Calum pointed out to me, hitting Esc
should do the same as what CE (clear entry)
does, not what Del does. CE was mapped to
Control-Backspace. It now also works with Esc.

Changes checked into CVS HEAD. Fixed in v4.3.12.
