updating the version
Recently there was a similar request made for nautilus-cd-burner, see bug 163662. Could these two issues be combined? If file-roller would create multi-volume archives (like tar -M) maybe there should be a option to burn these to a CD/DVD. Or it could be done the other way around. If nautilus-cd-burner encountered something that would not fit on a single disk, it would call file-roller to create an archive and then burn this archives to multiple disks _without_ creating an ISO image around the archive. To unpack such an archive file-roller would then just read from the device. Maybe file-roller could be called upon after the automatic mounting had failed. Another idea would be that whoever discovered the disc-change (dbus?) would check the header of the media and if it was an archive call on file-roller instead of mount. Just some wild ideas (-:
Some archivers has this ability included, AFAIK this is multivolume archives. Please include this possibility into file-roller
Please, multivolume is a good feature and file-roller should suport it...

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
