GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 122318
speech stops when gconfig editor window becomes active.
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Description: speech stops when fconf editor window is active. With the following steps above problem can be reproduced. 1. Login to gnome session, open gconf editor tool. 2. Make this this window active, then speech stops. 3. None of key events are sent to screen reader till this window is active. 4. Speech starts working, only when this window becomes non-active.
The problem is that gconf-editor is not a GNOME program so the accessibility modules are not loaded even when accessibility is enabled. metacity loads the accessibility modules in GNOME 2.4 but we may have to change how we do it in GNOME 2.6. See bug #123372.
Updating status whiteboard to reflect a11y team's assessment of priority.
Is this still a problem with current CVS HEAD?
I have not checked this but unless gconf-editor has changed to be a GNOME application and not a GTK application I would expect the problem to be still present. See also bug #139237.
It has just changed in HEAD. I asked because of this :)
I have built gconf-editor from CVS HEAD and gnopernicus recognizes it when it starts up.
