GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 117779
Resizing annoyances
Last modified: 2005-04-06 23:48:27 UTC
The fact that the window spontaneously resizes is somewhat disorienting (e.g. after re-entering your username following a failed login, or after selecting your name from the face browser), and could be even moreso for a user with some visual or cognitive impairment, e.g. if they're using the screen magnifier to interact with the login prompt. Would be nicer therefore if that didn't happen :)
Starting with a larger default size would probably minimize this. Should investigate this.
Marking AP3 to reflect a11y team's assessment of impact.
Apologies for spam... marking as GNOMEVER2.3 so it appears on the official GNOME bug list :)
I don't know if this is the same bug, but when I change screen resolution in gnome, for a lower resolution than the standard X resolution for example, gdm doesn't get resized and part of it is hidden under my screen. gdm should resize with the screen as all other apps.

Now fixed in CVS head. I added default sizes to the various label widgets so the gdmlogin screen should start up with enough size for the various labels to display their messages without needing to resize.
