GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 115753
Should have a click-to-raise option
Last modified: 2005-02-19 00:52:21 UTC
Metacity currently raises windows when you press a mouse button on them. For die-hard Unix users this may be annoying. Metacity should have a hidden GConf option to specify whether you want this behavior. The attached patch adds a metacity/general/click-to-raise option, defaulted to true, to control this behavior. When you set it to false, you can still raise windows by clicking on their title bar or on the window frame.

Works great for me, thanks a lot! The key shows up in gconf & does what it's supposed to do... I'm using debian sid (2.4.55-2). Hope this gets integrated soon, would save a bit of work. If hidden in gconf it's unlikely to distract newbies. Gabriel Wicke
this patch won't work for CVS head. Updating keywords
Short answer, I'm taking a patch that avoids raise in specific cases such as DND. There are about three novels of discussion on other bugs if you want the details.
