GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 113723
fast fwd and slow motion
Last modified: 2009-01-02 23:04:30 UTC
It would be nice if totem had some or all of the following controls: play forward / backward slower / faster / normal speed next frame / prev frame I'm afraid you'll say these buttons will complicate the interface too much. But I contend that - these actions are intuitive - these actions are useful even to newbies - totem is so simple now that it has room for more functionality
play forward / backward Playing backwards doesn't work with anything but DVDs, so I won't implement it. slower / faster / normal speed That's an interesting one. I'll look into it. next frame / prev frame This is not possible with xine About the slow/fast motions, I wonder how that would be added to the GUI.

Mass reassign.
If a slower/faster mode is implemented, it would also be really nice to preserve the sound frequency (no "helium" voice effect for faster speed). I don't know if this effect is supported in gstreamer or xine though.
Stepping through frames would be very useful, even if it only works forward. Please add this functionality. If the Xine backend doesn't allow such things maybe you should just dump the Xine backend. Who needs two backends anyway?
