Description Noah Levitt 2003-05-15 17:32:46 UTC
I tried out some of the vttest tests
(http://dickey.his.com/vttest/vttest.html) on vte, and it appears to fail
many of them. Some of the tested features I doubt you will ever want to
implement, but some others are probably genuine bugs. I took some
screenshots, comparing with xterm: http://www.columbia.edu/~nlevitt/tmp/vttest/

The linked site has eleven screenshots. I can reproduce them all in
0.10.25 with vttest 2.7 (20030301). There is definite improvement in
0.11.10.

      vttest 0.10 0.11 description
   1. 1.1 fail* fail* 80-col border
   2. 1.2 fail* fail* 132-col border
   3. 1.3 fail fail cursor chars. in ESC sequences
   4. 2.1 fail* fail* wrap-around mode
   5. 2.11 fail pass origin mode
   6. 4.2 fail fail double-width
   7. 4.5 fail fail double-width
   8. 6.2 fail pass LF/NL mode
   9. 8.2 fail fail* As & Xs
  10. 8.3 fail fail* insert mode
  11. 8.4 fail fail* delete char.

The tests that are sensitive to screen width (marked with an asterisk)
fail unless the screen is manually set to the correct width. 1, 4, 9,
10, and 11 look wrong unless the screen is 80 characters wide. 2
looks wrong unless the screen is 132 characters wide. xterm resizes
itself for these tests (with the exception of 4).
