GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 107927
RFE: put more informations in window title when opening subaccounts
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:29:48 UTC
Opening an account with its subaccounts produces a double line register window whose title is "general ledger". However, that windows doesn't contain all transactions: actually it contains all the transactions belonging to the specified account and its subaccounts. It would be useful (and perhaps very simple) to specify the parent account name in the windows title. For example, if the account name is "asdf", the window title should say: "asdf and its subaccounts - register", in a way similar to that used when opening a single account register. Thank you!
Fixed in CVS. Should appear in 1.8.5.
The bug is not fixed in 2.0.2: When I "open subaccounts" of an account: - the tab title is only the "name of the account" with a trailing "+" - the window title is the same as the tab title However, suppose you have such an account structure - expenses - 2000 - house (*) - pets - 2001 - house - pets when you open house (*) and its subaccounts, you have no way to know whether you opened expenses/2000/house or expenses/2001/house At least in the window title should be shown the complete structure, in my example "expenses/2000/house+".
In the future, please open new bug reports instead of reopening bug reports that have been marked as resolved for three years. This behavior was intentionally changed in 2.0 as part of the redesign/reimplementation of the user interface. The GNOME Human Interface Guidelines specifically caustion against overly long window titles, because they are harder to distinguish in window lists (and window manager pagers, etc).
If we cannot put all the complete structure in the window title it would be better to put it in something like the ulr bar of a browser, with the possibility to hide in int the view menu.
Bug #343239 similarly requests extra information. That proposed fix has been implemented. I'm closing this bug as the requested information is now available.
