GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 106535
Suggestion: Monitor Calibration Wizard to help set correct dpi
Last modified: 2005-07-14 17:52:31 UTC
The Gimp has a cool Monitor Calibration Wizard that allows you to calculate your screen resolution using a ruler. Maybe you could reuse that code and drop the wizard into the font properties control panel. Getting a good dpi value is harder than it seems, but it makes a big difference on my laptop and lcd monitors. Since the functionality is already in the gimp this is just a convenience thing, but it could be an easy score!
Screen DPI isn't really appropriate for the DPI in the font capplet - think a projection screen - do you really want 1 pixel high fonts, because your DPI happens to be 10dpi. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 104341 ***
