GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 106226
FEATUREREQUEST: Mozilla plugin
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
I think gstreamer should be Mozilla-embeddable. I don't know what would be the best solution but I'd like to have a gstreamer Mozilla plugin so that any gstreamer-supported file can be viewed in-line from Mozilla (specially useful for Flash animations, Real videos, OGG streaming...).
I believe gst-player is/was able to do that. You might want to look there.
There is a started Mozilla plugin in gst-player.
The mozilla plugin is (mostly) waiting on fdsrc support in gst-player.
david, could you elaborate a little on exactly what needs to be added so we can get Julien to do this ?
Gst-player needs to be able to optionally use fdsrc instead of gnomevfssrc, and use fdsrc location=1 if the file "-" is specified on the command line. This is necessary so that the socket (i.e., Mozilla) can stream data to gst-player (or gst-player-gtk, since it was easier to embed.)
The Mozilla plugin mostly works now. Please play with it and file separate bugs about problems with it.
