Description David Ballester Montolio 2003-01-13 17:53:19 UTC
Description of Problem:
When activate the clock applet with seconds and
date options, every 2 or 3 seconds, the disk is
accessed ( in my laptop this makes noise ) until
the user logout from is gnome session, making
that gdconf-2 stay in the #1 or #2 of top's
processes all the time, and ( probably not only
by clock applet ) but gconfd-2 begins to get
memory, having 6Mb at first and having 44Mb some
hours after.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. RedHat80 without modified or updated packages
2. In a gnome session, add clock applet and
format 24 hours, seconds and date
3. Follow the gconfd-2 process for a while, and
see the HD led.

Actual Results:

Activity ( blocks written ) to disk every two
seconds for all the live of the gnome session.
I know that isn't a big bug, but in a day, every
2 seconds earing a laptop disk work, kills me :(
Expected Results:
Access to disk only one time

How often does this happen?

Always for any gnome session

Does this still happen ?

I'm not sure what we should do here. This sounds like gconf has some
problems caching stuff.
