Description Alex DAMIAN 2003-01-09 14:56:17 UTC
I am running Redhat 7.2 upgraded to 8.0 (mainly by replacing RPM's, but
not all of them), all dependencies checked, kernel 2.4.20, vanilla, with
the NVIDIA 1.0-4191 drivers recompiled form source.
When starting gnome-session, after gnome-panel loads all applets, it
crashes with the following message: "Application "gnome-panel" (process
xxx) has crashed due to a fatal error. (Aborded)".
On stderr the following message is displayed:
"system-tray-applet-ERROR **: file obox.c: line 107 (get_class): should not
be reached
aborting..."
After installation, Gnome 2.0 worked well for several days, when out of
blue, started to crash like this.
I have not gone thru the sources, but this is annoying, so, any suggestion
may be helpful. Thanks.

This is a bug in the notification area when used in a vertical panel.
Make the panel horizontal again to fix it or look at bug #94625.
