Description of Problem:set LANG=en_US, then tried to run acroread


Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. start gnome-terminal
2. experiment wilh locale options, using alias in .bashrc or export from
terminal
3. run acroread

Actual Results:crashes


Expected Results:doesn't crash
