Description welcgard 2003-01-03 05:25:24 UTC
I am just finishing a book which aims to assist those who wish to produce
books, and a significant part of this is to give advice on presenting
images in a way that is suitable for interpretation in a high resolution
imagesetter (RIP).

To date Photoshop is the only software that I can find which offers all
the BASIC requirements for book printing, can GIMP supply the following
enhancements:-
*RBG to CMYK conversion
*When in Greyscale, to show the K (black) value (preferably as %)so that
this can be sampled, and then adjusted in Curves.
*Enhance the existing tools so that users can easily alter the dpi(ppi)to
300dpi(ppi) thus reducing the phisical size of the image, ie 72dpi to
300dpi gives an image roughly a quarter of the size.

This report lists a couple of different subjects which is not helpful
for a bug-report. There should be different reports for each of these
issues. Apart from CMYK support which is still very incomplete, the
other points here are already present in 1.2. I suggest we close this
report as INVALID.
Comment 2 Sven Neumann 2003-10-23 13:44:21 UTC
Since the only remaining task here is CMYK support, I am marking this
report as a duplicate of bug #123598.
