Description Andrew Sobala 2002-12-10 11:02:08 UTC
From the ui-review:

o Output window
- broken keyboard navigation
- <huey> a close button on the top left - not very common
- FIXME: more stuff said, but got lost in the irc logs on this one
-- I (Andrew) will look this up and post it into this bug
Comment 1 Paolo Maggi 2003-01-02 17:50:20 UTC
I have improved keyboard navigability a bit.
Comment 2 Murray Cumming 2003-06-18 09:05:06 UTC
Moving to GNOMEVER2.3 so we don't forget.
Comment 3 Paolo Maggi 2004-03-27 15:02:45 UTC
Output window needs some usability and accessibilty review.
Is anyone willing to give a look at it?

Just came across this old bug and decided to take a look, but couldn't actually
work out what the output window was for... perhaps that's a usability problem in
itself :) Any clues...?
Comment 5 Paolo Borelli 2005-11-17 15:50:27 UTC
well, the output window currently is used in just in combination to the shell
command plugin... there were others plugins making use of it (the diff plugin
iirc) but they have rotten/disappeared.

That said, the much talked gedit rework taking place in the new_mdi cvs branch
has a more generic bottom pane concept, which at least is not affected by the
weird close button location. An output-window widget to be placed in that bottom
pane still needs to be written... in fact the shell-output plugin itself needs
to be redone. So as far as I can see this bug is pretty much in a "limbo" state
at the moment :)
Comment 6 Paolo Borelli 2006-01-30 21:22:26 UTC
output-window is dead... closing.

We'll prolly reintroduce a generic output widget (currently it's part of the tools plugin), but given that there is not much valuable info here[1] I am closing this bug.

[1]: the only points raised here are keynav (pretty obvious) and close button on the left (which is fixed)
